A social worker respects the client's right to make decisions regarding their medical treatment, even if the social worker disagrees with those choices.

Standard 1.04 Competence

A social worker will maintain knowledge and skills related to specific medial conditions and utlize appropriate interventions based on the client's needs and healthcare requirements.

Standard 1.07 Commitment to Clients

A social worker protects sensitive medical information by adhering to HIPAA regulations and only disclosing information with client consent. There are exceptions when there is a risk of harm to the client or others.
